5th June 2021 Hiking - Walking: Landguard circuit Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: cloudy start but sunny later. Max Speed: Distance Covered: Thursday 3rd June - walk ***** - Trimley Marshes and home via Levington Marina – sunny periods and hot. Another great day here on the East coast in Felixstowe, lazy start with a bit of a lay-in as cloudy but with the sun then beginning to show I managed my exercises in the garden and taking some pics of Mags beautiful flowers, now bursting into bloom, late lunch then we decided to go out for a walk. Being a sunny weekend, we wanted to avoid the busy prom and after yesterday’s heavy rain The Grove would be muddy, we ended up at another favourite of ours, Landguard Nature Reserve. We did not gey there to nearly four this afternoon, managed to get a free spot on the road and set out in search of some wildlife, it was definitely t – shirt weather with lovely sunshine and light winds, in fact there is sadly very little wind forecast for several days now! We soon spotted the famous Linnets showing off with there red breasts as we walked along the cycle route and bumped into a friend Neil Hurrell out on his bike. He then walked with us all the way to the River Orwell where we sat and enjoyed the view. Watching fishing boats with flowing gull, several yachts enjoying a nice breeze that funnel down the river and a small container ship leaving port! After the wooden walk way, we parted company as we walked across the grass spotting linnets everywhere, plus two gulls feeding on a dead rabbit but no wheatears today but the highlight was two wagtails displaying to each other:) So an enjoyable hour or so out in the warm sunshine before returning home for a cuppa and cake, then a late meal in the evening, nice day:) PS – the day started very well when I learned I had three pics in our local paper today, that five this month already:) Photo Album Here Landguard Nature Reserve here |
